Capable, competent and stuck!

Updated: Jun 23

Every morning I woke up, and put my feet on the floor and followed the same routine. Yes, I would slide into my slippers, use the restroom, bathe, dress and dull, dull. I took the same route to work, and I went to the same four restaurants to eat or pick up lunch. When the workday was done, I would go to the same parking spot and drive the same route home. And on the weekend I wondered where had time gone. The problem with this is I was stuck in a routine, a rut, and a monotonous cycle of sameness.

Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever found yourself wondering what you could do to bring some excitement back to your life? Simple steps yield great results, so here are a few items to try.

Change your route to work; you will be surprised by the new things you see.Park in a different location. When you change the routine, your mind has to engage. Try it tomorrow and see if you remember where you parked.Have lunch or dinner somewhere new, people watching while you eat your meal can be fun.Look for new adventures. Do you love to read, look for a book club. Do you want to learn to golf, take a class.Visit a new movie theatreTry a new class, be bold and learn something new

Break out of the routine and live your life to the fullest. It's easy to get stuck, but I challenge you today, get out of the rut and experience the fullness of life. After divorce trying new things can be intimidating, but your are now the boss and that means that you are in charge of your choices.  Are you willing to choose to add some excitement to your life?
